Briefing ABC’s with BTP!
You need a video and you know what message it needs to share - but what else do you need to know? Here’s our guide to a brief that will not only get your video made to a T, but will give you the opportunity and confidence to make it better!
What is the purpose of your video?
Why are you making a video? What is the reason it needs to be presented in this format? (It’s a bonus if you can track metrics to see if it achieves your goal afterwards)
Who’s it for?
Who’s the intended audience for this video? Is there assumed shared knowledge between audience members? What might your audience be interested in/concerned about?
Where will it be seen?
What is the context of this video? Will it be in a room of peers at an event? Will it be on socials to get eyeballs on your business? Will it be on an internal portal for training?
When does it need to be done?
What is the due date? Do you have important dates before delivery to hit benchmarks and make sure everyone is available to review?
What does it need to feel like?
What is the tone you’re trying to portray? Do you want the video to feel sleek and show your expertise? Do you want to celebrate and acknowledge achievements? Do you want it to have high energy and showcase your workplace culture?
Do you have any examples that inspire you?
Have you seen a campaign that encapsulates what you’re also trying to achieve? Do you have prior works that you’d like to replicate? Do you have examples of what you’re looking to avoid?
Do you have any branding that can be used/leveraged?
Do you have graphics that can be used to maintain consistency and brand look/feel? Do you have uniforms and props that can be used on screen? Do you have a recognizable brand?
Do you have everything you need?
Is there anything that you don’t have from the above? Do you want to go the extra mile but you aren’t sure how to take it there? Do you need talent, props, hair and makeup?
